Hello!
I am Emma (she/her), currently enrolled in a joined PhD position at KU Leuven and ESO Santiago.
My research activities focus on star formation. I am especially motivated by observational astronomy and my favorite astrophysical objects are massive young stellar objects (MYSOs). My previous works have mainly focused on evolved stars using mid-IR to sub-mm spectroscopic data (master thesis). I totally changed my mind and decided to jump on the high-angular resolution side. As such, I am now using the capabilities of VLTI/GRAVITY to spatially resolve young massive binaries in order to shed new light on the processes behind their pairing mechanism.
I am always happy to learn more and more about interferometry and the VLTI users as we are a growing community!
Apart from the scientific side, I am also very interested in climate change and EDI (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) concerns, for which I believe we can all play a great role within our community.
Feel free to drop me a line here or here, or we can just enjoy a (remote) coffee in the Relax Room in GatherTown 😁✌️
