AGN Classification and Unification. Clive Tadhunter. I will start with a general discussion of AGN classification and the general importance of, and difficulties with, the main classification schemes. I will then focus on the phenomenology of radio-loud AGN and explanations of some of the major trends in terms of orientation-based unified schemes. This will include a critical discussion of the history of the unified schemes, the observational evidence (both statistical and for individual objects), and recent developments.
