The obscuring torus

These lectures will cover the toroidal obscuration around the central engine of active
galaxies. Topics will include the IR emission from the obscuring dust, relations between
the X-ray and UV/optical obscuration, implications for the unification scheme and
scenarios for the torus dynamical origin.
