BUGFIX: Chi2 plot's bounds can be decimal
BUGFIX: Allow to perform residual plots only on observables that are in the file and included into the associated residual settings of the targets.
CHANGE: Application download from web site asks to create an application shortcut to the desktop. This is not handled by all operating systems...
CHANGE: Change the title of the chi2 panel: Cuts in the chi2 space panel
CHANGE: Add the common panel (click on the plots node of the settings tree) that enables plotting with a higher granularity
CHANGE: Add the personal notebook widget into the result panels

BUGFIX: The USAGE messages of the LITpro engine are now displayed as error. It makes some error messages much more clear.
CHANGE: Fix behaviour on parameters editing. User does not have to validate using enter key.
CHANGE: The widgets of the chi2 plots have been changed to be more intuitive and chi2 can be plotted in log
CHANGE: The bounds values of the chi2 parameters are changed on every parameter change
CHANGE: Add one header to the TSV exported files
CHANGE: Set the user info field with a post-it-like background
CHANGE: The angle of radial plots is displayed in the label presented into the left tree and can get decimals

JMMC News: JSDC - a new catalog of computed stellar angular diameters

We are pleased to make the announcement that a new all-sky catalogue of computed stellar angular diameters (JSDC) is now available online on the Centre de Donnees astronomiques de Strasbourg (CDS) server : http://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/Vizi ... rce=II/300

The present catalogue contains stellar angular diameter for about 38500 bright stars (Vmag < 12.2, Kmag <11.5) obtained from an automated SearchCal results aggregation on the whole sky. For each star are given, the value of the limb-darkened angular diameter computed using a surface brightness method as well as the values of the uniform disk angular diameters estimated for the photometric bands B, V, R, I, J, H and K. During the last IAU conference in August 2009, the Optical and
Infrared Interferometry Commission (C54) raised a few questions
(get the whole story on http://olbin.jpl.nasa.gov/iau/2009/index.html).

One of them was :
"Is there a command line tool to throw at an OIFITS file to do a
simple uniform disk fit?"

Well, now, there is. Just "call Iper"

This simple tool allows you to rapidly see if your set of squared
visibilities is fitted or not by a uniform disk.

Dans le cadre de sa mission de service à la communauté, le JMMC offre un
service de "support utilisateurs" à la fois pour les questions ayant
trait aux logiciels développés par le JMMC (outils de préparation aux
observations, de recherche de calibrateurs, d'ajustement de modèles, de reconstruction d'image,
de dépouillement de données AMBER, etc...) et plus
généralement pour la préparation des demandes de temps et des
observations VLTI/AMBER. Ce support utilisateur est un service
d'observation du SO5 JMMC qui est actuellement vacant. La personne en
charge de ce service intervient habituellement aussi sur la définition
et les évolutions des logiciels de préparation aux observations proposés
par le JMMC (Groupe ASPRO, P.I. G.Duvert).

The Java GUI of Aspro has been updated to fix two bugs of the file transfert panel:
- Mac OS X users can now copy local file onto the jmmc server;
- Windows users can now copy remote files which contain colon caracters.

30/01/2009: Service d'imagerie pour les instruments de 2eme génération du VLTI:

Les instruments de 2eme génération qui équiperont le VLTI (Matisse, Gravity, VSI) fourniront des capacités d'imagerie adaptées aux cas scientifiques couverts par ces instruments. Les consortia ont l'obligation contractuelle de fournir a l'ESO un logiciel de reconstruction d'images de base. Le JMMC, en accord avec les consortia instrumentaux, propose de coordonner une étude complémentaire comparative des logiciels de reconstruction d'images actuellement disponibles (R&D éventuelle, évaluation scientfique et sélection finale), débouchant sur des recommandations pour l'utilisation desdits logiciels par les instruments (pipeline ESO). De manière plus générale, ce travail sera étendu aux autres instruments interféromètriques auxquels ont accès les laboratoires français. Le JMMC souhaite que cette action soit accompagnée par le CNAP au titre de service d'observation.

Le JMMC organise en 2009 ses premières "Rencontres". Ces rencontres seront un lieu d'échange entre les membres des différents groupes de travail du JMMC, ainsi que l'occasion pour les utilisateurs des services du JMMC de rencontrer les créateurs de ces services, de suivre des tutorials, de donner leur avis... On y parlera aussi des projets futurs, de l'avenir et de la pérennité du Centre.

Soyez nombreux à réserver ces dates sur votre agenda et à vous inscrire rapidement pour que le LOC puisse effectuer les réservations adéquates. Les contributions sous forme d'interventions orales, notamment des utilisateurs, sont plus que bienvenues. Un programme préliminaire sera établi courant Janvier.

The OI-FITS format is commonly used to store data provided by optical interferometers. The OIVAL service is intended to check the validity of OI-FITS files relative to IAU standard.
The tool provides information about an input file, especially if this one isn't compliant with the norm, with different levels of granularity. It checks:

Mandatory HDU presence
Format and unit of HDU content
Cross referencing
